Do NOT Teach a Starving Man to Fish

It's claimed that the old saying "give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime" is wrong, since when a person is starving, that's not the time to fill their head with knowledge. The right thing to do is  first to give the person a fish - drive out their hunger - and only after that , you can teach them to fish. Unlike  what most people do, they see someone who is struggling, and they rush to offer wisdom, saying, "Let me tell you what I'd do in your position". Few of us value their psychological state, which affect their understanding negatively and thus their ability to think straight. What we should do instead of offering a struggling people long-term advice is to help them regain their equilibrium. Once this happens... once their ears, heart and mind open. This is what Maslow showed in the pyramid of human needs if the  basic physiological needs weren't satisfied a person can't progress to meet the other needs and here the problem solving need "self-actualization need" as shown in the pyramid in the right side. What do think of that old
?saying? Do you find it right or wrong

I totally agree with you . If someone is in need of something , he/she will not be able to tolerate what others say and all what he/she cares about is to satisfy her/his need and when its done he/she can pay attention to what is being said . So give them a fish and then teach them how to fish when their stomach is filled :)

I agree with you. People always tend to didicate a person who has a real problem without thinking of that person hemself and the conditions he's in.
